- About Me:
- I'm a 20 year old sailor in the United States Navy, serving aboard DDG-74 USS MCFAUL in Norfolk, Virginia as a Missile Technician. I started sailing in my home state of Iowa on the Mississippi River when I was about 15 years old with my grandfather, Gary Johnson, aboard the Chocolate Chip. I've sailed with him countless times and he has instilled the seed of sailing within me. After joining the navy I was asked to go on a weekend race on Lake Michigan with a retired Comadore from the navy. I had a great time and had a new experience aboard sailing off of a river. I am currently joining the sailing center on the base in Norfolk and will be taking a class or two on sailing very soon. I plan to be out multiple times each week my ship is not underway. I am going to start with a Hunter 240 and work my way up to the center's Endevour 32.
