Hey Rick(y),

Sorry, but you will probably always be that to me, though I have made the transition with my son from Freddy to Fred!

Welcome to Florida - though I am not really in Florida but in LA - lower Alabama.

Hope you folks are getting settled in Satellite Beach - housing should be cheap with the shuttle shutting down. I hear Vero Beach is going to be a ghost town! Maybe the timing will work for you.

Sage words about sailing: (I have taken you seriously when you asked.)

Go slow! Opportunities to crew on another person's boat abound in any sailing community. Our yacht club here had races every other Saturday for nine months each year. I did it for years and was fortunate to have a regular crew, but most boats were scrambling for crew at every race. I am sure the same is true there.

I've got lots more sagisms - but don't want to overload your brain!

Good to hear from you. Keep in touch and let me know how your sailing experience goes. Maybe we can sail together sometime.

In June of '09 Fred Jr. and I sailed down the West coast of Florida. It was his first long sail (almost 1,000 miles). We did the round trip in 13 days with stops in Venice, Marathon, Bahai Honda Key, Key West and the Dry Tortugas. We sailed straight home from the Dry Tortugas in 70 hours. We had a great time, and the first time he and I had ever spent 2 weeks together with no one else around.

Richard said he was trying to get down there and I know he is anxious to see you in your new setting. Hope he is able soon.

I've been a member of this site for a good while but almost never access it anymore. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Fred

"Hi All, french built 2010 43 has been very dry down below but now a slow leak has occurred which is showing at the limber holes under the floor board in forward cabin. Bilge pump goes every 3hrs for 20secs. Not sure if it’s fresh/rain water or…"
