Jan, if you happen by Pensacola, please stop by. I will be glad to be your onshore tour guide here as there are many great spots to visit. I sailed on Alan's 43 ft Irwin and loved it! I know yours is going to be great too! Be careful in the ICW ....from Galvaston to Mobile I would only travel in daylight....too many oil rigs and barges and lots of fog. But there are some great stops between Mobile and Pensacola and on down past Panama City to Appalachacola. Wolf BAy and Pirate's Cove near Orange Beach, AL are beautiful. and the inside of Santa Rosa Island is the best of all if your mast is less than 49 ft to clear the bridges. Otherwise, stay outside all the way to Destin. If you come inside you can sail east up Pensacola Bay to my back yard!

I'm in Watergate Marina and yes, I am in the singlesailing group, but not active. I don't live aboard - just down from Houston on weekends.

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
