About Me:
OK, I'm done working. I never was much good at working anyway. No one wants to admit they are not good at working, probably because of the old Determinism work ethic. But I think working gets in the way of life, its just a subtle form of slavery. So, no more work for me, especially not one of those lame retiree gigs. I'm going to be very busy sailing, playing guitar, and avoiding sobriety. Long live Being and Nothingness!!
Current location:
Pt Breeze, NY
Destinations visited:
Lake Ontario
Looking to:
Cruise down the ICW this fall, stopping wherever and whenever. I have to find a crew person to get through the Erie canal and down the hudson and down the Atlantic to Delaware Bay. I plan to drink wine, play guitar, and giggle alot. Oh, and try to play that goddam banjo.

Almost Wet

There are some physical characteristics one should assume prior to engaging in plumbing projects aboard a boat; including, but not limited to, the strength of Sampson, the wisdom of Solomon, and the patience of Job. Having three hands would help too, and Gumby's spine. Changing intake valves on a boat is like performing in Circus de Soleil. There are many places on a boat that you can see, and that you can touch, but not at the same time. So your hand is in…

Adventure; Still Day 1

Posted on February 12, 2010 at 12:30pm 4 Comments

Fully provisioned, the time had finally come to commence our journey. Now, there are moments in one's life that are undeniably significant and profound; graduating from college; wedding day; the birth of one's children. All well and good if you like that sort of thing. For me, it was the first starting of my diesel engine. Never being certain when one steps aboard a boat if anything is going to work, I was wildly ecstatic when I pressed the ignition and…

The Big Adventure: Day 1

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 8:25am 8 Comments

The big day had finally come; the day we were to embark on the 200 mile journey to sail my new, (to me) boat to its home port. Evie had never been on a boat before, and I wondered how she would fare. But as we pulled up to the dock I heard a squeal of excitement as she burst from the truck, ran down the dock and leaped onto the boat. I had never seen her so happy, running up and down the decks, doing a little jig on the bow, handling all the stays and halyards and hugging the mast. She even did… Continue

Metamorphosis

Posted on October 29, 2008 at 9:00am 1 Comment

This is the year of my final transmutation. It began four years ago when I gave away my television. All changes heretofore, have been in favor of convention; societal norms and mores; aversion to sanctions. Now is the time to foresake the conventions of land for the wild anarchy of the seas. The sanctification and restoration of my soul. I have taken inventory of my needs; a sturdy ship beneath my feet, white sails above my head, clothes, tools, and one lonely ten dollar guitar. I will have no… Continue
