Nice to read you enjoy PH!
Hope my new boat is finished soon and once we will join too - despite the fact that I never raced in my whole life ;-)

Mind sharing what is so special in MNL-Boracay and what you think about HKG-MNL (or SUBIC or wherever it ends)?

Hello Blubaju,

I am planning to go to the Philippines in the future.

How do you find the sailing and facilities there?

What do you use for maps and Pilots? Are they easy to get?

Where are you in the Philippines now?

sorry Pinoys, this crazy upload feature always cuts the flag instead of leaving the proportions intact, but does not give any hint of the accepted picture size either. I tried for more than an hour but have to stop now, I'll try later again or if someone has one in an uploadable size, please let me know

water in sump near shaft packing gland

I recently found water in the sump aft of the engine under the packing gland. Of course my first suspicion was the Volvo gland, but turns out that the water was coming from the entry to the water lift muffler. Tightening both hose clamps stopped the leak. I had never checked those clamps before as they were a bit out of the way, but I suggest that its worth the effort. I found that the aft wood partition on the engine compartment was easy to remove / replace and enhanced access. Took the…See More

Sailing on . . .

Metaphorically I am sailing on. My life has taken a turn down a new road.  To encompass all that is going on Sea Knots might be limiting. Then again, the transition to sassea.blogspot.com is like sailing upwind against a current. It is as confusing as learning to sail. You might remember those days. Learning the foibles of a foreign language. Multiple meaning words like tack and phrases like 'fall off' were a bit mind boggling.Perhaps there is a closer resemblance to transiting from Sea Knots…See More
