I just realised there's no galvanic protection of the rudder stock on my Beneteau 40.
This shaft is stainless and the bearings bronze, so far apart on the galvanic series and its always submerged.
I noticed some small amount of pitting last time I pulled the rudder but thought it was oxygen starvation pitting but I just realised it must be galvanic corrosion.
Googling it shows similar corrosion on other production boats, why on earth didn't Beneteau bond or stick an anode there? Amateur engineering?
Has anyone bonded the rudder stock,to the engine/prop zinc?
