Hello,

Has anyone opened the cockpit lamp to change the bulb ? It seems a little tricky probably with a or three flat screwdiver(s). If tis works I will give you a reference from marine led to go to a low consumption LED maybe white or red if avalailable.

Season's greetings.

Denis, It opens easily, no tools required on mine. It twists off. I went with a lower amp bulb to reduce the light. We add a cone of colored paper to it to turn it into a Christmas tree.I added a rubber boot to the toggle switch for weather protection.

Thank you I managed to get it open like you say. Now I a m getting a LED BA15 LED lamp that will fit and lower consumption.

Dear Denis,

I did the same thing and put a LED bulb in it when I was in the Bahamas so I could leave it on at night in addition to my mast light for extra visibility (and so I could find my boat at night). Dude, where'd we anchor the boat? It's amazing how mast lights look like stars when the stars are so bright and there is no light pollution at night. Having a light at eyeish level can save you from being rammed by a dink at night.
With a LED mast light and the LED table lamp it consumed about .85 amps/hr - respectable.
