Beneteau 40 2-Cabin

Hi could anyone with a Ben 40 let me know the layout of the saloon air-conditioning ducts and where condenser drains to please.  I have received a response for Ben 43’s but it seems to me there is not room in the 40s for an outlet on the starboard shelf of the saloon.  So I think the 40’s must have the outlet in a different position?  Is this correct.  Regards David

Hope you hear from a B40 owner. I own, as previously stated, a B43. As for the condenser/evaporator drain, thats pretty much the same on all beneteau's They pretty much all drain into a base pan that should be supplied with the ac/heatpump unit. Once the condensate gets into the pan disposing of the condensate is done by one of a number of methods.
On the older boats the condensate was allowed to flow into the bilge via a drain hose attached to the pan then pumped off the boat via the main or backup bilge pump.

On some newer boats there is a very small condensate pump in pan that pumps the condensate overboard via a thru hull designated for discahrging condensate. If the pump should fail the condensate will flow to the bilge by way of the pan drain and be pumped overboard, as on older boats, via the bilge pump.

On some boats there is a condensate pump at the end of the drain line that pumps condensate overboard via a desinated thru hull. There is also an overflow line that allows the condensate to flow into the bilge should the pump stop working.

On our boat we have both types ( one for each unit). One is in the pan the other is at the end of the drain line (I think Benetteau now primarilly uses the type that fit onto the end of the drain hose. The in pan models seem to block up rather easily). EDC international manufactures the pumps and these are the primary types that Beneteau installs.

I should also mention that the B43 has two ducts in the salon sette for the 16,000btu unit. They are both filtered fresh air opennings ( not ducts) for the heat/ac unit under the sette. One faces port the other aft.

Hi James Thanks again for your input. I can see where aircon unit goes and the two locations for vents are marked one under under table and the other facing mast for the inlet air (I assume).

It seems the cold air runs through a duct to under the starboard settee to near the rear shower then turn upward to the shelf (under the ruler- the underside of shelf is clearly marked for cutting of a vent). Sounds simple, but my problem is there is very little room between hull and starboard settee back, so I am not sure how the cold air duct (6 or 7" dia) can get from under settee to the under side of this shelf. There only seems to be a couple of inches of space and water pipes and cables almost fill most of this gap ?

Beneteau uses the flex ducting in the US for air delivery. It is highly flexible, insulated, and adjustable. Not sure of diameter. Have to be careful not to lay on it though, the steel insulated coils will flatten if laid on often. Good luck. I think you are on the right track.
