I know there's been some discussion regarding water accumulating in the bilge just forward of the aft head. Some owners have found that re-sealing the shower sump pan fixes the problem. After trying that a couple of times unsuccessfully I decided to dig into it a bit deeper. What I found was the sump would only leak when the pump ran. After pulling the hose off the discharge elbow I found plumbers tape wrapped around the elbow's barb. Seems as though the elbow is undersized compared to the one on the other end of the hose at the pump. The hose has wire reinforcing which prevented clamping the hose tightly enough to prevent leakage when under pressure. Whoever installed it at the factory must have used the tape to make the hose fit. Only not to well I'm afraid. To fix it I cut and installed a short piece of fabric reinforced hosed to the elbow barb using a double barbed fitting to connect to the original hose. So far so good. So should anyone continue to find water in that compartment check the shower sump discharge hose at the elbow.

Mike,

Thanks for digging into this. I was having the same intermittent water in the bilge issue. I repaired the fitting and so far it  seems to be resolved.

Harry unfortunately I'm still dealing with water accumulating in that area. I've found sea water in there and have been fruitlessly chasing down the possibilities. I know it only comes in while we're running. Just can't figure out from where yet. I'll update once I find it.

I have recently developed the same problem on our 2010 Beneteau 40. Any suggestions on the easiest way to remove the sump from the shower deck. I was able to remove the screws easily but the sump is sealed/adhered to the shower deck. Concerned about damage to the sump or the shower deck during the removal process. Thanks.

I think the sump is connected to the floor with a kind of silicone. Take extreme care to avoid parts (the screws for example) to fall in the hole once you remove the sump. I placed a towel between the hull and the deck after having a night mare to get back the holder/neck of the pump that fallen into there accidentally. Also it is very difficult to reassemble the 2 hoses that connect to the sump giving the float switch that are opposed to them! Good luck!

They work by moving lithium ions between two electrodes — a positive electrode (cathode) and a negative electrode (anode) — through an electrolyte medium. Here’s a breakdown of the process and components:1. Key ComponentsAnode (Negative Electrode): Commonly made of graphite, the anode releases lithium ions during discharge and absorbs them during…See More
