Anyone wish to share there preference on hand bearing compass?  Practical Sailor recommends a puck style over pistol grip. Just asking those active sailors with an opinion to share.

I have a pistol grip style and its easy to use.  It just seems to be "natural" as an extension of your arm.  But I haven't used it in a few years.  By the time I find it and pick it up its quicker and easier to stand up and look over the compass....

Thanks for the input.

The pistol grip with the extended lubber marks is useful for accurate fixes when trying to determine, for instance, if you're dragging anchor over time.  The hockey puck is nice for racing, like when determining whether you can lay the racing mark or not.
