SeaKnots

Good day everyone,

I have Hull #39 OC43, looking for any wisdom from the group.

The black paint trim on the salon and deck windows rubs off and runs on the deck which means cleaning the deck almost impossible.  Has anyone had any experience with this and any solution.

Thanks for your help,

John

I think the key word here is that it is paint.  I let mine go to long and the paint is very thin in some places.  I accidentally got wax on the glass when polishing the fiberglass and noticed weeks later that it looked much better than the non-waxed area.  I cleaned the black paint with a very fine polishing compound and used cleaner wax for the first coat.  rewaxed with pure carnauba wax since.  Been a couple of months and no more black runoff in the rain.  Looks much better.

A charter skipper in Clear Lake TX pulled the Lewmar hatches out of a clients B40 port lights, stripped the black paint, and repainted with Mercury black spray paint.  They looked very good.  Mine will need that when we get back to the states.
