PLEASE POST YOU ARE OK or if anyone heard
Good to know Ron
Paloma is in a marina just off Corpus Christi Bay and that's where they first thought Ike was headed - so we prepped her for one more hurricane. As usual, the weather forecasters were wrong, so there was little more than some wind and a little rain. I spoke with two sailing friends in the Houston area, both keep their boats at marinas on Clear Lake - despite all the pictures of boats washed up into parking lots and lawns, their boats came through it just fine.
Not quite as lucky down here in one sense of the word ..but indeed by the grace of God ...Banana Wind floats once more !! We are A-OK ...and have both been busy with work duties as well as cleanup, etc down here. We plan on posting a blog soon as time permits with pics of the wipeout of our marina and our home grounds (we are temporarily land based for now .....blaaaah!!!). Most folks here werent quite as blessed with their boats ....most are total losses ...I wouldnt be so bold to say that Banana Wind came through unscathed ...since she was right up in the land based pile of boats here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYOPGN_a4Ec . More later as time permits .....
Glad you guys are OK!
Hello Banana Wind

Glad you guys are ok. I did think about you when I saw Pleasure Island. My home in Nederland didnt get so much as a ding.

Its hard to be happy considering our friends in Bridge City, Pt. Arthur, Sabine Pass, Orange, LaBelle. and the beaches. Words fail me.
Hi I know there was a lot of loss in Texas but we all felt it ,I know I feel it when I see a boat damaged . just hope they recover . in AL. we had a good surge ,and once again it proved the importance if not smartest move of staying onboard , I woke to 10 deg list and am sure that if not there to slack lines wander would have been damaged along with a few other boats I had to tend .
ready for the next blow Ronald
I'm in Watergate Marina on Clear Lake in Kemah, TX and it has a lot of damage. Our whole area on Galveston Bay is in bad shape and will take quite a while to rebuild. Amazingly, my boat is fine - very lucky. Here is a video of the marina.

Ole Ike came and blew our entire marina away! We have about 90 boats, most still tied securely in their slips, about 1/4 away on the hard. Ive posted some pics.

Still waiting for the insurance adjuster and the city to determine just what the future holds.

But.....I know everything is gonna be alright, cuz Im a sailor man.

"Hi All, french built 2010 43 has been very dry down below but now a slow leak has occurred which is showing at the limber holes under the floor board in forward cabin. Bilge pump goes every 3hrs for 20secs. Not sure if it’s fresh/rain water or…"
