Additional wardrobe /shelf unit in fwd cabin on 43

I attended the Paris boat show and saw a new B43 that had an additional storage unit in the forward cabin. It is on the stbd side just forward of the head. It provides a lot of storage in what is otherwise unused space. I queried Benteau USA and found the unit is available. The installation would require a small bit of cutting and fitting, but may be worth it. I took a few pictures of the unit.

We have a 43 launched in July 2009 and it has a cabinet exactly as described and shown in your photos.

As an Australian launch it is a French built boat, but with many of the issues I read about in your posts.

How do you stop the holding tanks permeating their stench throughout the boat?. They are set up in such a way they cannot be bypassed even when at sea.

Also has any one had problems with the opening hatches set in the large side "windows". Ours is being fixed under warranty after the bottom seal on the starboard window has been broken to the extent breeze from the starboard side can be felt entering the cabin UNDER the window.. It appears the seal has been destroyed by over exhuberant pressure on the opening hatch latches whilst they were being closed. We have now worked out moderate pressure from your "other" hand adjacent to the latch alllows the clip to be closed with minimal effort, and outward pressure on the window bond..

It may not be the holding tank causing the odor. Salt water used to flush the toilets can produce a nasty odor similiar to that produced from a holding tank. We switched to fresh water flush last year and odors are virtually gone.

No problems with "stinky" holding tanks or lines currently on our 2008 B43. The portal window hatches seem to be holding up well.

Like Mike we only use fresh water for flushing and we rinse our holding tanks out often with fresh water (warm water from shower head after initial pump out). We have owned our boat for close to three years without unpleasant head smells. Our head is not plumbed to the fresh water tank. We pour a couple cups of fresh water from sink into the bowl. We are still considering plumbing tank to head (yes, this is an electric head). The cups of water are a simple interim or permanent solution dependent upon on your level of nuisance tolerance. I think Mike is right reference smells. They could come from the sea or ocean water used to flush you head via bacteria etc. Sea water had accumulated in our bilge from a slow leaking water pump line. Fixed the leak but after two days the boat developed a really bad smell. Cleaned the bilge, no bad smell.
