SeaKnots

First Blog....By the way...Who the hell named it a blog :-)

OK, here goes. I am taking lessons in May to begin my sailing life....Taking ASA courses in Ft. Lauderdale at BWSS. I eventually take all courses offered and hopefully find someone who has a cat that will let me join them for a month or so and help me learn what I want and then it's off to buy one I hope. My picture is me and my Dad, my best friend. He is taking the first classes with me and if he likes it and does not get too seasick, maybe he will take all of them with me....He is pretty cool, and since my Mom died March '08, he and I have hung together. There is the typical generation gap, but we manage to work thru it....and yes...sailing is my dream, not his....We'll see. Anyway, more as life happens. Daniel

Congrats all the way around! On taking the smart approach to getting into sailing (i.e., instruction). On having your dad along for the ride (I never got the chance). When it comes time to buy your first boat, I'm sure you'll be able to get plenty of helpful (even if sometimes contradictory) advice from all your SeaKnots friends. Fair winds, matey!

Daniel, if you get a chance while in FLL, try the Blue Fish Cafe. I don't know the exact address, but it's a short ride from BWSS. Located in the Southwest quadrant defined by Sunrise Blvd and Atlantic Blv (A1A). It's kind of behind a high rise motel that used to be a Holiday Inn (closed the last time I was there) They do a really good job with Tuna.

Which course are you taking at BWSS?

Daniel, What a great relationship! I know you will have a good time in Ft Lauderdale, it's one of my favorite cities. You will enjoy BWSS--we took a couple of courses there a few years ago and they were terrific. We ran into one of our instructors last year in Bimini. If you get the chance, say hello to Ted (on Gitana, probably) for Peter and Claudia. Also say hi to Karl.

What a wonderful thing for you and your dad to do together !! Congratulations .
It's going to be fun for both of you and, many years from now, you will look back and say " My dad and I did this together' and you'll have the best memories ~~
Fair winds and best of luck.
