I love sailing! What else is there to say? I took up sailing when I was age 50. I had power boated prior to that, but always wanted to sail. I took a course with Offshore Sailing School in 2004 in the Florida Keys, which earned me US Sailing certifications in Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising. Currently own a Com Pac 19. Previous to this, owned a Com Pac 16.

We started out with a MacGregor 17. Surprisingly enough the Com-pac sails a lot like the 17 did and my wife found that the com-pac was very stable and comfortable for her so like you I got what she liked best. We did test sail a new hunter 27 last month and neither of us liked it it's hull is shaped like the MacGregor 27 or SX model. They plane well with a big engine on her but she has a really bad breakover what it heels. It feels for all the world like it's going to just fall over. Now it catches itself well but I just didn,t like the feel of it.
I thoight that boat looked familier. I own a Com-Pac 16/3. She's on the hard right now being rehabed but I hope to be back on the water this fall. I designed and built a wheel helm for her and am in the process of installation, plus adding a depth gauge, VHF radio, Compass and maybe an entertainment system. She carries 2 batteries and a solar panel so can handle the power draw. I also use a trolling motor for aux. power so no gas on board. The only flamable on board would be the rum in the cooler.
"Hi All,
