I purchased a 30 yo Helms 24 about 18 months ago and have spent untold hours getting it back in shape. My girlfriend Lynne and I are looking forward to trailering it to the FLA east coast and hopefully sailing it to the Bahamas in March. I taught basic sailing in 1974, but have been out of sailing until now. I feel like a dinosaur getting up to date on all the new hi-tech navigation wizardry. I would be interested in traveling with a group of cruisers who are going to the Bahamas in the late March time frame.
Current location:
Watts Bar Lake, Spring City TN
Destinations visited:
Local areas on the lake between Watts Bar Dam and areas north. I have also sailed in the distant past in Annapolis, St Croix, Puerto Rico, and San Diego when I was in the Navy. I used rental boats from the military welfare and recreation shops when I could get liberty from the ship.
Looking to:
Trailer my boat to Patrick AFB, Canaveral, FL, then sail down the ICW to W Palm Beach. If all goes well, we'll sail out the inlet from Peanut Island park and then sail in the Bahamas and Abacos for a couple weeks in the late March-April 2009 time frame.
"Wayne, yes I'm still out here. She's looking good and you'll love her. The 38.1 is a perfect size for 2 people with occasional guest (s). Plus she's a sweet sailing boat. I'll attach a short video of one I was delivering…"

"Hello Randy,
New to the group, going through the posts, I have come upon this thread. I was considering tinting my windows of my Beneteau 43 with a darker tint, but I really like your idea. So I will copy with…"
