Hello,

This a trick to get the boat on anchor to face the waves when the wind is from another direction. Very useful but you have to be ready to trim if the wind wave orientation changes. Well banced it minimizes rolling from side to side. The length of rhe line to the anchor must be around 15 to 20m. For easy triming you can even go through a rear spinaker pulley back to the genoa winch.

This is to avoid the roll caused by the waves coming into an anchorage perpendicular to the wind direction. You tie a dock line from your chain to you cleat amidships and let out chain until the bow is pointed to the waves. Pitching is more comfortable than rolling!
