The principles of CME are intended to replicate in colon carcinoma the principles of total mesorectal excision, which have been associated with significant improvement of oncologic outcomes in rectal cancer and have been replicated in several centers throughout the world. While complete mesocolic excision (CME) has been shown to have an oncological benefit as compared to conventional colonic surgery for colon surgery, this benefit must be weighed up against the risk of major intra-abdominal complications. This paper aimed to assess the comparative oncological benefits of CME. Methods Complete Mesocolic Excision (CME) consists of the complete removal of tumor- bearing so tissues enveloped by the mesocolic fascia and radical lymphadenectomy at the origin of feeding vessels. Technical advances, including a reliable lymph node dissection along the central vascular trunk, are being studied. A systematic literature search was conducted using Pubmed and EMBASE with the terms of "complete mesocolic excision", "CME", "anatomy of CME", "laparoscopic CME" as well as "colon surgery". Many related studies were found and we summarized and presented the findings with our clinical experience. The anatomy development of mesocolon The authors found compelling improvements in recurrence and survival with complete mesocolic excision; however, the challenges faced in treating colon cancer differ from those in treating rectal cancer, and whether the outcome associations found in this studyare truly due to complete mesocolic excision is unclear. Survival rates increased from 82.1% to 89.1% and local recurrence rates decreased from 6.5% to 3.5%. With the description of CME, it is stated that more standardized resection can be achieved in colon cancer surgery. CME dissection aims to ligate the vessels at their Complete mesocolic excision is well defined by specific anatomical structures by contrast with conventional surgery, and surgeons who were to complete mesocolic excision might tend to do more extensive resections in the non-complete mesocolic excision group. The surgeon must decide whether to do good surgery or not, and we must perform the former. This multicentre randomised controlled trial (RCT) aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of complete mesocolic excision (CME) versus D2 dissection in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for patients with right colon cancer. Methods: This superiority phase III trial was undertaken at
