I am considering replacing the original E80 multifunction display that came installed on the boat. The display is mounted in the housing that allows you to swing the chart plotter toward the port/starboard helm station. The plotter is still working correctly but since it is at least 8 years old I am concerned that we may approaching the end of its serviceable life. Has anyone upgraded theirs to  another Raymarine or ??? brand? If so what size etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I had a B40 2011 and it had the next generation Raymarine, the C 90w. This will fit the console. You can get a great price on the Raymarine website in the recondiitoned/special section of their site. However, if you have radar, the C90w uses a different radome than the C80. I am not sure the radomes are compatible. The most recent version of the C90w will also fit and may have an adapter plate thsat will make the installation easier. Again, the radome my be a problem. The newest generation are WiFi and Bluetooth capable and can talk to mobile devices using the Raymarine apps.

First off it's it not broken don't fix it. It's very possible it will continue to operate for a long time to come so why spend the money. If you want the new features that Bruce mentioned then go for it after checking compatibility. If you decide to go with a different make avoid Simrad as they seem to have issues with their operating software.

I have decided to replace mine with the A127 MFD (Raymarine).  I will need an adapter plug (A80247) and the sea talk converter kit (E22158) so my other instruments may "talk" with the new MFD.  This was information I got when talking with Raymarine.  Since all is working well at this time I have decided to wait until I go to the Annapolis show and confer with their reps.  I am impressed with the resolution of the new units and the WiFi ability.  I have not measured yet but hope the 12" unit will fit in the current housing.  Let me know how you make out and I will stay in touch as well.

Cheers,

Capt. Pete
