Hey Folks

My batteries never seemed to take a full charge since I bought the boat new in 08. they are now setting of alarms within 30 minutes of cruise time. I'm going to change them out. any recommendations? cost isn't a factor as long as they last and can hold a charge for a few hours.

thanks

Thanks for the info on your system. Do  you run the coffee maker each morning through your inverter or generator? What size inverter do you have? Is the NextGen in a sound cage? How does the 2degree list and dragging tail affect overall performance in your estimation?

I like the idea of a built in generator but we have a few other priorities on our list. We do not have a full cockpit enclosure but, before we head south again we will. The very 1st thing I'm gonna install is the Raymarine ECI-!00 engine interface.  Its pretty economical and it attaches to the yanmar harness and displays engine vitals ( and fuel supply based on consumption) onto the Multi Function Display (E120W). Our boat currently only has "idiot lights" and that's not good enough. Sounds like an easy enough install so I will do it myself.

James

Hello James,

I am interested by your engine interface. Do you have a B43 from 2008 with a Yanmar 4JHE ?

Our Raymarine are E80 and E120 not the E120W but has input for engine monitoring.

I was told by our dealer that our Yanmar doesn't have connection for this applications.

So if you have more information and pictures I will look at this again.

Thank you.

Denis

Well if what you say is true I'll be selling a brand new eci 100 on ebay very soon.  I just ordered it yesterday (ebay $275) thinking it would fit. I checked Raymarines on-line site and they labeled the Yanmar 4jh models as compatible but maybe since our engines are of the older variety it won't fit? I didn't look for the connector on the engine yet.  Marethron makes a connector with harness but its way too expensive. Yanmar is clearly listed as being a compatible engine for this app so I'll let you know later.

james

ok, it's the yard in Spain that told me that. So I hope for you he was wrong.

Are you still happy with the kyocera solar panels ?

Denis

Very happy with the Kyocera's (see page 3).

Are you still in Spain? The person there told you the Raymarine eci 100 would not fit?

is your boat a us built b43?

Your guy is right. The Raymarine eci 100 only works with a select number of yanmars and the newer (3rd generation, like Raymarine e125 etc) Multi Function Displays.

Check the engine configuration as the 4JH4E had an A added to it. I think they switched to an electric fuel pump along with some other changes but best to check with Yanmar.
