What type of anchors you have in B43, and what are your experiences? I use the simple Brittany 20 kg. It never failed. But I must admit I didn't come across with hard conditions. I anchor in mud and sand bottoms under 20-25 kts breeze maximum.

I use a 45lb Lewmar Delta and have not needed anything else in the Caribbean or the Med so far.
What type of windlass is yours, and your chain. Did you have any trouble with the windlass?
Hibernia has a 20 kg BRAKE from MPI and 100m of 10mm chain in one oiece. The windlass is the Quick delivered with the boat. The original anchoring is the second safety mooring.

We have the double rollers for mooring. It is useful for buoys common in the Med now;

Denis
The Quick that came with the boat and 3/8" chain. The chrome base on the windlass had to be replaced right away because it started chipping the second time we anchored but no other problems since.
Franc do you have to keep tension on the rode to keep it from slipping on the gypsy when weighing anchor? I found that ours will slip if there's insufficient tension. Difficult to do unless you use the windlass to pull the boat forward, a no, no for the windlass.
Yep. I did when we used rode. We now use all chain.
Thanks I'm think of switching to chain and keeping the original chain/rode with a back up anchor.
We have a 35lb Delta and anchor mainly in mud. Had it drag once but I don't think I had it set properly. Once reset it held very well.
Greetings. I put a Manson Supreme (NZ Made) on mine which is a bit like a Rocna if you know that brand. The Manson is a great anchor but I had to modify the roller by adding a rocker so that when launching the tip of the anchor didn't hit the bow on the way down. I also put a stainless loop over the bow fitting to retain the anchor and chain and to prevent it coming off the roller. It came off once and made a real mess of the hull. My only dragging experience was definitely operator error. Its cold and wet down hear, I envy you guys. Gavin
I have a 20KG ROCNA. I had the original gypsy (3/8") with 30 FT of chain and then 5/8" rode. I always had to tail the rode to get the windlass to operate correctly. So, I too went with all chain (followed by the original rode). Now have 175FT of 5/16 HT chain and 200 FT of 5/8 rode. I changed the gypsy out from the 3/8 to a 5/16th to reduce weight in the bow.
We use a 33 pound Lewmar Claw (a Bruce style) anchor on our 40. We have it fitted with 100 feet of chain and 250 feet of nylon rode. We have used Bruce-style anchors for years in the Great Lakes and find them to be very reliable. Most of our anchoring is done in mud and sand as well. We spent a little more on this one and bought the polished stainless steel model. It looks really nice hanging off the front of the boat on the poliched stainless bow roller.
We also had problems with the windlass intially but they have gotten better as the 1) slippery chrome finish has gotten chewed up a little; 2) the nylon rode is not as new and slick; and 3) the kinks and twists of the new rode have been worked out. Still not perfect but for the few times a season we anchor out it is OK.
we have a 32kg Bruce (orginal!)
Actually one of the rearly things I trust in, on my Boat.

Why are hubcaps less common on modern vehicles?

 Hubcaps, which are attached directly to the wheel and rim assembly, are less frequently seen on modern vehicles. This shift is largely due to the adoption of wheels made from aluminum or metal alloys, which are less vulnerable to damage from salt, road chemicals, and harsh winter conditions compared to the previously common steel wheels.WheelCovers.Com prioritizes customer support and security to provide a seamless shopping experience.
