How did you name your boat? I am always curious about how people name their boat and if there is a story behind it. After seeing all of the names on this site, I am looking forward to hearing the stories...So, If you have a boat how did you come up with the name?

Ahhwww, that is so sentimental...I love it!
Mine was simple...the best book I ever read and started me on this boat venture. AN ISLAND TO ONESELF...see web page on my description.
This is the lettering that will go on soon.

Very nice!
After many years of working all the time, I finally realized that cell phones are for the dock. So I named my 272LE "Knot@Work"

Our first bluewater boat had her name changed by her second owner, from Blessed to Lost Citizen. She was abandoned when we found her. We renamed her Symphony and had great adventures with her sailing around the north Atlantic.
A friend of ours is a plumber. They named their boat "On a Call" .
That way she could honestly say he was out "on a call" when someone wanted work done on the weekend.

Mine is an Aquarius so the name StarShine was a given to this old "flower child".
My boat got its name Half a Devil from the sail number of 333.
LOL...like it!
When my son was age 7 i started taking him sailing on a friends boat. The owner passed away and i woiund up with the Tartan 27 as a major project boat. I actually bought he boat 5 days before Katrina hit the gulf coast then went to work for 21 days" Tug boats " At work I heard abt the storm path and was pretty concern to say the least. Any way Jacob passed away at age 8 and he was our only child. Jacob was always right at home aboard teh sailboat and always wanted to buy one so I decided to name the boat Jacob's Dream. Make a long storie short,, Katrina totally destroyed every marina around us, the yacht club 1/2 mile away was leveeled to the ground. The marina less than 1000 yards from us was destroyed and boats were piled in teh treess from 26 fr surge. You could stand in my cockpit, throw a rock and hit total devistation all around, But Jacob's dream had not a scratch. She rose out of the pilings and sat right back down in the same slip she was in.

I: now have moved upto a Hunter 30 and will always rename the boat Jacob's Dream and will always have a pic of he and i sailing the tartan when he was alive. Its kinda like he had his hand on the boat during all the storms we had since.

FAir Winds;
Touching story, Chuck. I used to work for an extremely wealthy man (actually I've worked for a lot of wealthy men as a yacht skipper.) who named all his boats the Gallant Lady in honor of his late wife's battle with cancer. At one time he had THREE of them at the same time, two 85' Rybovitch-inspired sport fishing boats and a 176' mega yacht (at the time the largest American-flagged yacht in the world) and they all bore the same name on the transom and WITHOUT a Roman numeral after. Do the same as he. No numbers. Jacob will ALWAYS be the original #1.
Chuck, Wishing you all the the best,and keep sailing Jacob's Dream even if you move to another boat,Pat
The name of our s/v is "Livin' On A Prayer". My wife is from the same home town as Bon Jovi. I remember seeing him in the Battle of Bands before making it big in Jersey. The crew, my family, like his songs. And it is the first time my wife had been on a s/v, so it seem appropriate.
