Hello all.

The Dolphin 40amp battery charger in my 2011 43 is charging well, EXCEPT the cooling fan is cycling on and off every 20 seconds or so. Volts and amps are correct  although there is red light top and centre flashing red, does not look happy.

It seems as if the thermostat controlling the fan is not functioning correctly as the unit is not even warm.

I cannot locate the Beneteau supplied manual, any clues as to the fault.

Regards,

10-11 year old battery charger supplied by boat builder with questionable operational characteristics! Personally, I would just replace the 40amp charger with a new "5 year guarantee" charger for peace of mind.

We owned B43 for 10 years before selling. Now own GB Eastbay 38. Just replaced both shaft seals that had been on boat for well over 10 years. They were not leaking but they looked close to  end of their respective service life's  ( slight crack and wear) so why take a chance with possible catastrophic failure. Was not cheap

( both engines) but I sleep better at night.

Thanks James,

I finally obtained a copy of the manual and confirmed the LED light on the top was an indeterminate red/orange, flashing.

Surprise after 4 hours on the marina 240V (Australia) the fan ceased cycling, the light went green and all is happy with the world. It appears it was simply doing what is was designed to do and running through an equalisation mode.

Thanks for your response and compliments of the season to you all and may 2022 be kind to you and yours.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Happy to hear its working properly.
