Hey folks

has anyone had there anchor motor just stop working? I use to get some clicking with the controller but at the end of last season it just stopped. I did notice a very very thin black broken wire underneath it.

Mike I assume it won't go down. There's a small green relay mounted on the engine just behind the alternator. Usually they fail so the windlass will either fail to raise or drop the anchor. It's possible that it could cause it to quit working altogether. You can get a replacement from Beneteau and it's easy to replace. Let me know how you make out. BTW the small black wire you found I think goes to a remote control. Mine too was just hanging there. Good luck and let me know how you make out.

Love you mike

You are the best at this.

Im going to check it out

thanks

Mike,

I had the same issue last season, it ended up being the micro switches in the remote. Tried to find a replacement switch to no avail. Check the switch with a meter to see if they are ok. If they are bad, give the windlass manufacturer a call, they sent me a new board for the remote at no charge.

Good luck,

Dave

Never thought of that. the remote looks like the day it was installed. I check that out.

thanks Dave

Mike, if you need a new remote control and can't get the circuit board like Dave did you can order one through Beneteau Parts.

Mike

Thats great.

Thanks Mike

The thin black wire is probably the connection to the chain counter. If you don't have or don't need a chain counter you can ignore the wire. If when you press either up or down on the controller you just get clicks (the sound comes from the relays), you may find, as I did, that the anchor windlass gearbox has seized up. Mine was a Quick unit and eight years old. There were no spare parts available and I had to replace the complete unit. Fortunately, although there are small differences between old and new, the footprint is identical. The new unit cost €1000 plus fitting. I wish you better luck!
Regards, John

Hi John

Thanks for your response. I finally discovered it was a corroded relay. once replaced it was good as new.

thanks again

Hey Mike was it the green relay thats mounted on the side of the engine?
Mikey

It was in the chain locker rotted away

Hmm interesting. Nothing in my locker than chain. Glad it's fixed.

Yes, just back 8" from the bow at the top. water ran all over it and it just fell apart. the new one is in a plastic housing. I should get a few years from that.
