Mariner's Revenge ---- We are two mariners
Our ship's sole survivors
In this belly of a whale
Its ribs are ceiling beams
Its guts are carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill

You may not remember me
I was a child of three
And you, a lad of eighteen
But I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories interweave

At the time you were a rake and a roustabout
Spending all your money on the whores and hounds, oh oh

You had a charming air
All cheap and debonair
My widowed mother found so sweet
And so she took you in
Her sheets still warm with him
Now filled with filth and foul disease

As time wore on you proved a debt-ridden drunken mess
Leaving my mother a poor consumptive wretch, oh oh

And then you disappeared
Your gambling arrears
The only thing you left behind
And then the magistrate
Reclaimed our small estate
And my poor mother lost her mind

Then one day in spring, my dear sweet mother died
But, before she did I took her hand as she, dying, cried, oh oh

"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling of his grave"

It took me fifteen years
To swallow all my tears
Among the urchins in the street
Until a priory
Took pity and hired me
To keep their vestry nice and neat

But, never once in the employ of these holy men
Did I ever once turn my mind from the thought of revenge, oh oh

One night I overheard
The prior exchanging words
With a penitent whaler from the sea
The captain of his ship
Who matched you toe to tip
Was known for a wanton cruelty

The following day, I shipped to sea with a privateer
And in the whistle of the wind I could almost hear, oh oh

"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling of his grave"

There is one thing I must say to you
As you sail across the sea
Always, your mother will watch over you
As you avenge this wicked deed"

And then, that fateful night
We had you in our sight
After twenty months at sea
Your starboard flank abeam
I was getting my muskets cleaned
When came this rumbling from beneath

The ocean shook, the sky went black, and the captain quailed
And before us grew the angry jaws of a giant whale

(whale attack)

Don't know how I survived
The crew all was chewed alive
I must have slipped between his teeth
But, oh, what providence
What divine intelligence
That you should survive as well as me

It gives my heart great joy to see your eyes fill with fear
So lean in close
And I will whisper
The last words you'll hear, oh oh

Sailing by Christopher Cross

It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
Sloop John B by the Beach Boys

We come on the sloop john b
My grandfather and me
Around nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the john bs sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the capns trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff john stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home

So hoist up the john bs sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(hoist up the john bs sail)
Hoist up the john b
I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home
This is the worst trip Ive ever been on

So hoist up the john bs sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
I’m Your Captain by Grand Funk Railroad

Everybody, listen to me,
And return me, my ship.
I'm your captain, I'm your captain,
Though I'm feeling mighty sick.

I've been lost now, days uncounted,
And it's months since I've seen home.
Can you hear me, can you hear me,
Or am I all alone.

If you return me, to my home port,
I will kiss you mother earth.
Take me back now, take me back now,
To the port of my birth.

Am I in my cabin dreaming, or are you really scheming,
To take my ship away from me?

You'd better think about it, I just can't live without it.
So, please don't take my ship from me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah ...

I can feel the hand, of a stranger,
And it's tightening, around my throat.
Heaven help me, Heaven help me,
Take this stranger from my boat.

I'm your captain, I'm your captain,
Though I'm feeling mighty sick.
Everybody, listen to me,
And return me, my ship.

I'm your captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm your captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm your captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm your captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
Ohhhh ...

I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
I'm getting closer to my home ...
Son of a son of a sailor JIMMY BUFFETT

As the son of a son of a sailor,
I went out on the sea for adventure,
Expanding their view of the captain and crew
Like a man just released from indenture.

As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man,
I have chalked up many a mile.
Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks,
And I've learned much from both of their styles.

Son of a son, son of a son, son of a son of a sailor.
Son of a gun; load the last ton
One step ahead of the jailer.

Now away in the near future, southeast of disorder,
You can shake the hand of the mango man
As he greets you at the border.

And the lady she hails from Trinidad,
Island of the spices.
Salt for your meat and cinnamon sweet,
And the rum is for all your good vices.

Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind that our
Forefathers harnessed before us.
Hear the bells ring as the tide rigging sings.
It's a son of a gun of a chorus.

Where it all ends I can't fathom, my friends.
If I knew, I might toss out my anchor.
So I'll cruise along always searchin' for songs,
Not a lawyer, a thief or a banker.

But a son of a son, son of a son, son of a son of a sailor.
Son of a gun, load the last ton
One step ahead of the jailer
I'm just a son of a son, son of a son, son of a son of a sailor
The sea's in my veins, my tradition remains.
I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer.
On waves of love my heart is breaking
stranger still my self-control. I can't rely on anymore
new tides surprise. My word it's changing
within this frame, an ocean swells
behind this smile. I know it well
Beneath a lover's moon - I'm waiting
I am the pilot of the storm
adrift in pleasure - I may drown
I built this ship it is my making
and further more my self control
I can't rely anymore
You claim that no man is an island
while I land up in jeopardy
more distant from you by degrees
I walk this shore in isolation
and at my feet eternity
lays ever sweeter plans for me
I know why
Helpless on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around back to my loving ground
Ship of fools -------------------------------------Ship of Fools---- Robert Plant
Sail On Sailor by the Beach Boys

I sailed an ocean, unsettled ocean
Through restful waters and deep commotion
Often frightened, unenlightened
Sail on, sail on sailor

I wrest the waters, fight Neptune's waters
Sail through the sorrows of life's marauders
Unrepenting, often empty
Sail on, sail on sailor

Caught like a sewer rat alone but I sail
Bought like a crust of bread, but oh do I wail

Seldom stumble, never crumble
Try to tumble, life's a rumble
Feel the stinging I've been given
Never ending, unrelenting
Heartbreak searing, always fearing
Never clearing persevering
Sail on, sail on, sailor

I work the seaways, the gale-swept seaways
Past shipwrecked daughters of wicked waters
Uninspired, drenched and tired
Wail on, wail on, sailor

Always needing, even bleeding
Never feeding all my feelings
Damn the thunder, must I blunder
There's no wonder all I'm under
Stop the crying and the lying
And the sighing and my dying

Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Immigrant Song -Led Zeppelin

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land,
To fight the horde, sing and cry: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are young overlords.

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.
New York Girls - (old sea shanty ) As I walked out on South Street,
a fair maid I did meet
Who asked me please to see her home
she lived on Bleecker Street

Chorus
And away, you Johnny,
my dear honey
Oh you New York girls,
you love us for our money

I said, "My dear young lady,
I'm a stranger here in town
I left my ship just yesterday,
from Liverpool I was bound."

I took her out to Tiffany's,
I spared her no expense
I bought her two gold earrings,
they cost me fifteen cents.

She said, "Come with me, dearie,
I'll stand you to a treat
I'll buy you rum and brandy,
dear, and tab-nabs for to eat."

And when we reached the barroom, boys,
the drinks was handed round
That liquor was so awful strong,
my head went round and round.

When the drinking it was over,
we straight to bed did go
And little did I ever think
she'd prove my overthrow

When I came to next morning,
I had an aching head
And there was I, Jack-all-alone,
stark naked on the bed

I looked all around the room,
but nothing could I see
But a lady's shift and apron
which now belonged to me

Everything was silent,
the hour was eight o'clock
I put my shift and apron on
and headed for the dock

My shipmates seein' me come aboard,
these words to me did say
"well well, old chap, you've lost your cap
since last you went away."

"Is this the new spring fashion
the ladies wear ashore?
Where is the shop that sells it?
Have they got any more?"

The Old Man cried, "why Jack, my boy,
I'm sure I could have found
A better suit than that, by far,
to buy for eighty pounds."

So come all you bully sailormen,
take warning when ashore
Or else you'll meet some charming girl
who's nothing but a whore

Your hard-earned cash will disappear,
your rig and boots as well
For Yankee girls are tougher than
the other side of Hell.
I forget where I ever found this:

I be the IZOD pirate, with an eye-patch, white and
green,
Me duffle bag's from Land's End, and me duffs from
L.L. Bean.
Me steward brings me caviar, and me porter totes me
gear,
Got a beeper in me scabbard, got a cell-phone in me
ear.

REFRAIN: Singin' "lah-dee-dah",
Sailin' near and fah,
And I never breaks a sweat,
With a ferret, not a parrot,
On me shoulder for a pet!

I rides me trusty Jetski, as I trades commodities,
Barkin' orders to me broker, corporate-raidin'
globally!
Buyin' long and selling shorter, lots of booty in the
bank,
And if any dares to cross me, they'll walk me
hand-carved plank!

REFRAIN

And when I goes to battle, me suit's by Brothers
Brooks,
Me lackey valet dresses me, like 'Smee did Captain
Hook,
Me spy-glass is a satellite, and me chopper shuttles
me
From me Cris-Craft cabin-cruiser, anywhere I please.

REFRAIN

By Audi, Saab, or Volvo, I travels to the docks,
Or me S.U.V. transports me to me safe deposit box.
When we ties-up at the yacht club, we dines on surf n'
turf;
No Jolly Roger on me flag, just a cute and cuddly
Smurf!
A Sailor's Curse

Her love was like a sailors passion
Towards the raging sea
And he was like her ocean
Wild, simply free

but the trouble with the ocean is
It waits for no one man
No one can tame it's rebel waves
Some have tried but no one can

She loved him for his spirit
And his heart as tough as nails
But to love him was a struggle
And put strain upon her sails

The waves can rise up tall
And crush the biggest ships
But it was worth the fear and danger
To kiss upon his lips

She knew a broken heart
Were the wages to be paid
But she loved him nonetheless
Her love was never swayed

It's truly a sailors curse
To love a thing so free
And though you want to keep it
Many ships will sail the sea

She admired his dense coarse nature
She adored his wild heart
And she knew his heart that she loved
Before long would break hers apart

And it did, it hurt her so deeply
That she had to let him go
It was freedom he wanted so greatly
And commitment he couldn't show

It's not the oceans fault, you see
That it's waves are so untamed
It is within it's nature
So it cannot be blamed

Someday one man among many
Will hang his cap upon her door
In the meantime there will be plenty of
sandy footprints swept from the cabin floor
