Been sailing from the age of 19 (Randy) (Jeannie started sailing in 1997), it is a big part of our lives and we want to see some of the the world by it. Love the great lakes and sailed all over them and want more out of life. We sail a 1990 Catalina 36 tall rig. # 1057 Currently outfitting it for long distance voyaging,
Current location:
Whitehall, Mi.
Destinations visited:
All round the great lakes and been in the USVI once.
Randy, thanks. My sons take most of the photos, so I can't take any credit. The thunderstorm clouds were about 10 miles offshore of South Haven, MI. We were sailing south from Holland to St. Joe, took a long tack offshore, and saw the sky turn black in the west. The thunderstorm moved in very fast with these great "mammary" clouds (that sometimes spawn tornadoes/waterspouts), wind gusts went up to about 50, lightning hit all around us, rain came down in buckets. We got sails down before it hit and headed her into the waves and wind with the diesel turning over just enough to hold her there - let the autopilot steer and kept a lookout from the companionway (there wasn't much visibility). It passed quickly.
I see you didnt want to include pics of the "Florida people"!!!! I cannot believe that pic of the dock with all of the snow. It sure is pretty to look at. Okay enough about the snow...that is why Florida is the "Sunshine State". Love you both and cant wait to spend time with you guys.
Randy and Jeannie,
Thanks for the comment, it's fun getting back into things here in good old Michigan. I invite you to take a look at our web site http://www.faithofholland.com
