I have encountered discoloration of the mirrors mounted on the cabinets in the head. I have seen this before on bathroom mirrors in houses or in automobile side / rear view mirrors and the cause was moisture interaction with the mastic sealant used to mount the mirrors. Has anyone else experienced their mirrors discoloring (beginning at the edges-turning dark / black)?

I have not seen this yet on my mirrors.  I have a newer boat and this may be why I have not seen anything yet.  One would think with the technology they have today this should not be a problem.  I suppose the good news is that the mirror is not difficult or expensive to replace.

Hello,

On our Oceanis 43 from 2007 we have that also. I tried to order (and pay) a new mirror from Beneteau in 2008 and I am still waiting ...

Unfortunately, we have.

Sam, yes I noticed it this past fall. Hopefully it will remain as is.

Hi Sam  Yes I can see it starting on my mirrors.  I think it is salt moisture attacking the silver coating on the back of the mirror.  On an earlier boat I replaced the mirrors at about year 10.

Me too

I have been considering using some brown acrilic sealer around the mirrors, leaving a small breather gap at bottom away from shower.  My mirror closest to shower is bad but only just starting on rear mirror.  Does anyone know if this would help?? David B40

Just came back from my boat. Inspected the mirrors and they look pretty good to me though there could be a very very small amount of discoloration on edges .We hang dehumidifier bags in the heads and I really think this is helping to minimize moisture issues on our boat during sailing season and when the boat is being stored.
I'll check this in 2 weeks when I am on board .... Better for Beneteau if I don't have this problem to !
