Comment by zeehag on September 19, 2011 at 9:30pm: ritchie vaens, buddy holly and big bopper died in a plane crash in mid 50s, the 10 yrs we were all alone was the 10 yrs between the day the music died, and the times of beatles and rolling stones. the song was a tribute song written for the musicians. miss american pie was donna, buddy holly's girlfriend. the widowed bride was wife of ritchie valens., they had just gotten married. there was only transient politics in the song, and only as related to the tribute to buddy , ritchie and the big bopper.
