I just added an AIS transceiver to my boat. I always feel uneasy in the company of large vessels, especially at night and their running lights are not discernable. I have radar, but it does not do a good job computing the course and speed of other vessels, so the AIS will help there. But the truth is, I love electronic gadgets for the boat!
