Profile Information

Profile Type:
Sailor
Homeport:
Stillhouse Cove
About Me:
Sailor, powerboater, licenced captain - 100 ton masters. Love the water - on it, in it, you name it.

I've been on the water 50+ years - WHOOPS - did I admit my age? Sailed for more than 40 years - cruising racing, bluewater, you name it.

Please forgive me. When I decided to live aboard, I bought a powerboat. HAving realized that wasn't going to work for me, the powerboat is on the market and I'm looking for a sailboat again.

But once a sailor, always a sailor. It's in my blood, and I'll probably get a small cruiser when I get down to the Keys just for fun.
Current location:
Rhode Island
Destinations visited:
Most of the east coast of the U.S., Bermuda, Virgin Islands, Bahamas
Looking to:
Move me and the boat to the middle keys. Soon!

The inspection trip may not actually happen. Been waiting for the owner to e-mail information he promised, but nothing yet.

The Quest, Continued

Heading down to Merritt Island Monday to check out a Seafarer 38 ketch. she sounds like a little bit of a project boat, but that's OK with me.

The Quest

Posted on January 4, 2012 at 4:56pm 0 Comments

By the end of the year, I will be back in a bluewater capable cruising sailboat. I had abandoned this idea for the space and creature comforts of a powerboat, but have come to realize that all those creature comforts come with too high a price. The power boat is on the market, and I have begun my search for a solid, seaworthy vessel that will still aford a modicum of comfort while at the dock.

until you live in the warm, shorts and T shirt almost every day, climate, you cannot believe how wonderful it is! probably one of the things I like best is not maintaining 4 seasons of wardrobe, and a very limited office selection. I was in Marathon in 1988, have little recollection of it as it was a passing through trip via boat to Ft. myers. it is most likely still pretty, and definitely tropical.

Having lived in RI for 14 years I know how hard it is to get an "exit visa". Lovely place to live, except for the severe drop in temperature around September 1!
Moving on to a power boat is not the worst choice, as long as you are still sailing something, somewhere.
If you are sticking to your plans, are you making it down the ditch/coast towards Marathon?

MJ,

It's by Harold Livingston. His band is Hrold Livingston and the Mile MArker 24 BAnd. The song is from the album, "Blame It On The Margaritas." He does some great stuff. I have three of his albums (dating myself I guess) CD's now. Definitely worth a listen.
