Aye Ye Dave, Man Im sorry Ive overlooked this reply. Walkin the floor/sole this a.m. -and stumbled over it- 3 mos. later. Hmmmm, A bit of a pilgrimage, I reckon, to the nudist camp! heeheeeeeeee, That's how ye stay so young , aye? I need again some annual adventures (e.g. minute passage) to count on again, it sure makes the rest of year go by quicker!! Yeah, I like the idea of your little trip in your little boat. Id be happy with it!!

The closest Ive been to your neck of the woods would be when I was on Lake Chelan in Wa., we did some mapping in Stehekin which we took the 2 hr ferry each way. Damn it was cold boat ride. Like sitting on a stainless ice tray. I want count my visit to Chi town.

We're having a 10 mile race in two wks and hope there's steady blow. That's gonna be a long haul on the knees.

Gonna get some rest, sorry to just now be seeing your reply. Hell, its probably time for your trip already, haha.

Ahoy Capt Louis,
Ahhhhhh Dances with Sails, Neat. !!!!!!
BTW , this area ( where we live in South Dakota) is where most of the Dances with Wolves film was shot (the "on location" parts anyway).
Reference LOWISA, check it out on the web site. There's plenty of room for more boats (grin) as I said it's a BIG lake. This year we are planning on trailering all the way up to Kenora, Ontario and launching up there. Then on the way home we are going to tow across Southern Canada to the area around Regina SK and visit friends who live in a nudist resort there. Other times we just tow to Warroad MN, launch there and take three additional days of sailing to arrive in Kenora in time to register restock the beer collers and ice boxes and head out on the LOWISA. Then after the lowisa ends, sail back down to Warroad to trailer it back here to the Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota (two LONG days pulling).

Ahoy Capt'n Dave!

Man, Lake of the Woods appears to be a rockin' hole in the ground. We (here on Lake Conroe) had 14 boats racing this past thur, now that we changed our day from a church day, more boats flocked to the start. Pertty dern exciting!

Ive had the opp. to visit some spectacular sites through itineraring, Lake Chelan, Puget Sound, Lower Columbia River, others which unfortunately I didnt get to sail. But though work has kept me at bay, I have these spots on my list of places to return to. Now Im interested in lowisa!

Thanks for enlightening!

Your Aquarius is damn near a Vagabond 17! I sail a 14 ' vagabond however=no cabin=no weight,,,though I want something I can spend the weekend on. So yeah, Im jealous! lol

Mark, the only "sensible" size/type of sailboat to own... but then who's sensible about sailing! Nothing like cruising at 50 knots down the interstate and through the Keys.

I've been to the Dry Tortugas, but only by float plane. Boy what a cruise that would be.

Neighbor down the street and another good friend is an avid Tanzer sailor. Looks like a pretty stout boat and he sure enoys it.

Any sailing plans this summer? We are trying to make it out to Puget Sound in Seattle for a month or two of sailing. Fingers crossed that that will happen. Wind isn't great, but the scenery sure is and endless gunkholing!

Most of my sailing is on inland lakes and rivers (the LOWISA is an annual experience for me -- see www.lowisa.org) but I do haul here around every now and then.

Being a trailer sailor sure seems to have it's advantages. Cruising at 60 knots to new destinations! What type of trailer sail boat do you like? I've often thought of buying a used Mcgregor as a "backup" when i can't get to my wooden 34 tancook whaler in the salt
