Good Evening Erika,
My lines held up just fine, probably due to floating docks and good slip neighbors. We only had two boats with serious damage. One de-masted due to a rotten bow spit and a ketch lost its mizzen mast when some flying debris sheared one of the stays. We had some major dock damage, but we received the insurance check last week and the repair work will began in 3 to 4 weeks. If you are looking for a really nice marina and a great group of sailors, come over and I will show you around and introduce to a friendly bunch.
How is your recovery progressing?......Jay
My boat did great except her lines fused/melted (did yours do that?), It was braid about 1 year old but I was on a fixed pier. My boat was in a pocket of undamaged boats. About 5-7 boats down in either, really all, directions were sunk or heavily damaged. My new Hurricane lines are oversized three strand with fire hose chafe guards. I need to move to a better marina before another one blows in, my marina just can't handle another blow, at least the old piers can't so even if the new piers hold up we'll have a lot of debris/boats flying around from pier 5 and 6. You know how that goes, no matter how well you tie your boat up the yahoo next to you sinks ya. I wonder if the marina would even let us ride out a hurricane on those piers?
see ya,
Erika
That looks like Portofino? I was in Watergate. Did your boat fare ok? I can't believe huricane season is back already! The experts say we now have to worry about huricanes forming right off the coast along with forming off Africa, Bummer.
Thanks for sharing your pics.
Erika
