The weather was incredible today. A high pressure front brought sunshine and clear skies with high flying, cotton-puff cirrus clouds and an afternoon temperature of 72 degrees. I was hoping for an early start, but was delayed by about an hour due to a traffic accident. On the winding mountain road that I drive to get to the lake, a father with his two young children had driven his mini van off the side of the road and into a creek. Fortunately, they were uninjured, but the mini van was a mess. It seems that a large hawk, swooping down to capture prey, had flow into the path of the vehicle which caused the man to loose control and run off the road. The hawk's feathers were strewn all along the roadside, but I could not find the bird.
Arriving at the boat ramp, I got her rigged and launched in record time. The wind was light to non existent, which was OK because I needed to run the motor a bit anyway. I had added an extra measure of Seafoam to the gas mix to prepare the motor for an upcoming period of non-use, as cold weather approaches.
To Be Continued:
making note of new shoals
off to the green bridge
half way back and darkness falls
almost ran onto shoal
swinging far to the north on approach to landing to avoid rocky shoals in the darkness.
