Gee, thanks guys! We were on a spice trip in Zanzibar, and the guides used palm leaves and weaved these amazing accessories in minutes! The kids could not believe how amazing it was, watching how creative and artistic they were!
  • Kevin M. Morton

Thanks for your thoughts. It's kind of like (hell, EXACTLY like) your first love, isn't it? I do love my Catalina and am very proud of her. :-)
  • J

Hey Nanner Wind, I posted a few pics of my Oday CC if you wanna check it out.

A couple of pals and I may float on down from Galveston Bay and visit yall soon.

    ****!!!!Happy 4th of July!!!!*****
  • Jenny

Thanks! Hope you had a great 4th July! We fly out end of the month back to Seychelles to continue our sailing adventure so we are thrilled! Just been hectic these last two months sorting things out - yet we are almost there!
Keep in contact by reading our logs, it will be a while before I will be able to chat again... or post / reply to messages, but will keep you posted when we can!
  • Andrea

Thanks so much for remembering by b-day ;-) It was a great day. (If there is such a thing...without getting out to go sailing).

Gonna stay in Port Aransas for the duration, pertty excited! Dman hotel bill's gonna surpass tuition, lol, but a night will cost as much as a oneway drive (stress included). Hope all is well.

I reckon there are'nt any worthy boats worth considering on our coast? I suppose Im going to have searching far and wide for my baby, when I start lookin'. I've seen the Pics from the media, lot of boats trashed. Understand yall faired well. That's good. Had my dinghy chained at two points for security. Only linmd to upset me hit the truck but not awfully bad. So do yall have a house in town to run to? The clean up looks historically overwhelmed, and now the aftermath. What a tangled web...Good luck to all, and glad ye made it.

Ah, apparently our ears were burning, chimming in at the same time...No cheap shot considered. Watched it out the window popping our 60' water oak like a dandilion, oneway then the other. Definetly something to endure for 6 hrs. At least we are warned, unlike tornados. No real damge here,However it was getting pretty touchy around as everyone felt the pinch of no fuel, no milk, no amenities. Another week and their would have been some killin's. Our lights were on a week later.
Havent heard any on the TxRenfest...I 'll try and find out about the grounds, sure it s fine or we will be -thats a money pit! Im hooking myself up with a date fro that weekend(whichever weekend yall decide), so yeah, Im still interested. Looking at a weekend pass($30.00).

Great atmosphere on this page... Keep it up!

We are workin on a skit, costumes to change history. My lady is unsure of being free for 'the oppotune' weekend ye prefer. A more certain pick of weekend would allow her/us to be together. She has to have notice where I dont. Yes, I am waiting on the woman. The 'woman' hinders again. This is why we pigs(men) are often seen with 'the other woman.' We understand the demands of living and roll with it. We are then flogged for being that leader. So on behalf of my lady, a busy monarch, let me know which date ye soon decide. Otherwise I will endure a severe flogging of nine from behind. Which shouldnt be an awful affair but as soon as she knows I like it, she stops. Damn it!

Thank ye, Thank ye vary much

Hello!! So sorry to hear about your misfortune! At least you are all okay! Also happy that your baby got off lightly!!
We flew back to Seychelles and finally made landfall at Langkawi, Malaysia after a 28 days at sea! We did stop off at Maldives for two days and then Sabang, Indonesia to break the trip. Dodged a few squally thunderstorms and water spouts en route, so are very happy to be anchored!! Nice to hear from you!

Whats the latest on the island? Any news on if and when they intend to rebuild the marina?

My boat hasnt splashed yet. The B*&(#$ are charging $253.00 a &*^%$ foot to pick up the boat, stage it, and then splash it. That amounts to a total of $8096.00 to get my boat wet! Im lucky because Im insured, but there are many here who has to leave their boat.

I will be moving the boat to Boardwalk Marina hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks.

Whats the status of the Lepraucahn? The 28' Morgan OI? I have a friend who may be interested if the boat is in one piece. Let me know if you dont mind.

    Hey Nanner Wind!

How is things progressing at the island? Rainbow's End splashed last Tuesday but the starter must have gotten wet. I will pull it this week and check it out. Hopefully I will be doing my annual Christmas Sail again this year.

Fox Houston came out and interviewed me. They goofed up and the report is so far away from what we had hoped for that I can only grrrrrrr; but hey, I gotta boat and its floating! Alls good in my world.

Saw all the photo's of hurricane damage, truly sad. Hope people can replace or repair their boats, I know some probably didn't have insurance. Must have been heartbreaking to come down and try to find their boat's after storm. I know it's just a material thing, can't replace a life...but sailing/boating gives so much pleasure and peace of mind to many. Take care and hope all goes back to normal soon for everyone. Terri
  • Pete

Ahoy, matey! Thanks for swinging on by and checking up on me. I'd be happy to do some detective work and see about Odays on the market. You might want to have your friend look at the boats for sale section of odayowners.com. It's a pretty good place to start. And if I come up with anything on my own, I'll be sure to pass it along.
  • Pete

Try this one for starters -- a 1976 Oday 32 center cockpit, with an asking price of $14,000. Here's the link: http://www.iheartodays.com/ad_0558.html
  • Pete

    Hey matey:
    Here's a link for a 322 for sale in Alabama -- a little closer to you. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1987/O%27day-322-1232541/Orange-Beach/AL/United-States
    Hope it works.
  • Gary B

Thanks BW for the comment a couple of weeks ago... Not much progress on my boat - it's COLD here. I'm planning to go visit it this weekend. As for windsurfing - that's going to wait until I find some warm water! :)

don't know about that "bad day at sail better than a great day at work" statement :-) Going with Capt leo for a backing out of slip lesson with a northerly abeam..yikes....wasn't pretty last time..had a plan..plan went to hell quickly...lol... 40/hr i better learn quick!!!!!

  • William Turner

I do believe I visited Port Arthur in 2006
sailed on a boat belonging to a friend of mine, boat is called FIREDOG.
  • Peter Gierga

Hi ,actually back and fill is a technique. I use it to back Penelope. Lets say Im backing out of my slip and the stern starts heading of to port and what I want is to go straight back and then bring the bow around to port so what I do is I turn the helm hard over to port while Im still backing then I slip her into forward give her some gas and get her to straighten out a bit then
  • Peter Gierga

I put her in reverse with the helm still hard over to port get her moving again then slip her into forward get the bow to come around over to port. The key is to leave the helm over in the direction you want the bow to go thats back and fill. Just last weekend in Illwaco we were motoring around looking for the transit slip . I missed the turn and ended up in a row 30ft slips with room to manuver that reflects the slip lenght on a dead end with wind on the beam. Well Penelope is 46.6ft Overall. the first word out of my mouth was a short one.... four letters long. It was a hairy situation ! I Just back and filled my way right out there swung the bow sprit right over the back of a small sportfisherman keeping a close eye on my monitor wind vane. Capt. Peter
  • Jenny

Our dear friends! It has been quite a while since I last sent word! Thanks for the kind thoughts and mail... it is great news about your boat to tinker about in till Banana Wind is ready... hope all is going well that side and things are working out great for you guys!!

Yes, the kids are growing really quick... We will be celebrating my eldest daughter, Justine's 18th birthday on the 26th this month and have a surprise trip planned for her here in Malaysia where we currently are... We love it!! Langkawi will always hold a special memory for us!! Then our middle daughter Jessica turns 17 and our son a few days later turns 16.

When we left the Seychelles, we sailed onto Maldives, then Indonesia, then Langkawi. Went to Thailand, and down to Panang in Malaysia then back to Langkawi, and so it goes... yet It has been such an awesome experience!
We were waiting for friends to sail this side, but due to issues and timing they will not be joining us so we are now looking at going down south sometime...
Will try to keep you posted!! Great hearing from you and would love to hear how it all goes your side too - regards Jenny on Bluemoon

Two sisters, one blond and one brunette, inherit the family ranch.
Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock.

Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, 'When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home.'

The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it.
The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.
After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.
She walks into the telegraph office, and says, 'I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch.
I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home.'

The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, it will cost 99 cents a word.
Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word..

After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, 'I want you to send her the word 'comfortable.'

The operator shakes his head. 'How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word
    'comfortable?'

The brunette explains, 'My sister's blond. The word is big.

    She'll read it very slowly.... 'Com-for-DA-bul.' ;-)

Frozen Crabs & the Blonde Stewardess

A lawyer boarded an airplane in New Orleans with a box of frozen crabs and asked the blonde stewardess to take care of them for him. She promised she would take care of them and put them in the crew's freezer. He advised her
that he was holding her personally responsible for them staying frozen, mentioning that he was a lawyer and what would happen if she let them
    thaw.

Needless to say she was very annoyed. Shortly before landing she went on the intercom and said, "Would the gentleman who gave me the crabs in New Orleans please raise his hand. " Not one hand went up - so she took the crabs home and ate them.

    Two lessons here:

    1. Lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are.

    2. Blondes aren't as dumb as folks think they are.

Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America:

HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT WOMEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

    1. She is not a 'BABE' or a 'CHICK' - She is a
    BREASTED AMERICAN. '

    2. She is not 'EASY' - She is

    'HORIZONTALLY ACCESSIBLE.'

    3. She is not a 'DUMB BLONDE' - She is a

'LIGHT-HAIRED DETOUR OFF THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY.'

    4. She has not 'BEEN AROUND' - She is a

    'PREVIOUSLY-ENJOYED COMPANION.'

    5. She does not 'NAG' you - She becomes

    ' VERBALLY REPETITIVE.'

    6. She is not a 'TWO-BIT HOOKER' - She is a

    ' LOW COST PROVIDER.'

HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT MEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

    1. He does not have a 'BEER GUT' - He has developed a
    'LIQUID GRAIN STORAGE FACILITY.'

    2. He is not a 'BAD DANCER' - He is

    ' OVERLY CAUCASIAN.'

    3. He does not 'GET LOST ALL THE TIME' - He
    ' INVESTIGATES ALTERNATIVE DESTINATIONS.'

    4. He is not 'BALDING' - He is in
    'FOLLICLE REGRESSION.'

    5. He does not act like a 'TOTAL ASS' - He develops a case of
    RECTAL-CRANIAL INVERSION.'
    (Loved this one!)

    6. It's not his 'CRACK' you see hanging out of his pants - It's
    'TROUSER CLEAVAGE.'

FINANCIAL PLANNING.... Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed to find a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.

"I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die and I will inherit $200 million."

Intrigued and impressed, the woman asked for his business card; three weeks later she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.

    BREAKING NEWS: Shot in head

Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries. Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head. He became concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour.

The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors
were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head. When they
finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise
that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered.

Linda is blonde, a Democrat and an Obama supporter, which may, in fact, be totally irrelevant.
