SeaKnots

Hello Folks,

I'm new to the group with a 2009 Beneteau 40 that I've had for two years now.  We love this boat!

This looks like a great site for sharing ideas and info.  Just to pay it forward a bit, I thought I would share with everyone a recent project I did with my Sailrite Sewing Machine.

These are black mesh screen covers that snap in place with stick-on removable "Snad" snaps and they serve three functions:

  1. Protect the window from scratches and UV (like slapping jib sheets) and keep them looking new.
  2. Full-time bug screens for the portholes.
  3. Add some additional privacy and shade inside during the day.

I also made a snap-on cover for the skylight on the deck to keep it looking new and protect it from the UV.  The lighter canvas lets plenty of light through.

Photos attached.

Cheers,

Randy

Great idea and execution Randy!  I’ve been contemplating something similar for some time, but had never thought of using a mesh that could double as an insect screen.

Hello Randy,

New to the group, going through the posts, I have come upon this thread.  I was considering tinting my windows of my Beneteau 43 with a darker tint, but I really like your idea.  So I will copy with pride!

Thanks,

Kerim
