Sweet Mother of Mary... Yep, Terri buys a boat..and all hell breaks loose.. world will probably spin off it's axis next year... and I've been a good girl all these years..geez..for what I ask ???? :-) Have to be rethink'n things
Yeah, the marina i was at last season..had lots of sailboats, very few went out. Quite a few were afraid to leave the slip on a kinda windy day. Very few even down to have a picnic on... very expensive at 95 - 120/ft. Think I went out about 40 times and that was cutting two months out of my sailing season and that wasn't nearly enough. I think I'll do more lake sailing when I can't get down there. The lake is about 10 mins from home.
Geezus Liv, I'd be flipping out too. End of May..unreal!!! When do they make you haul out? Oct. 1st. damn..yep, time to start looking. I'll be in last Mon. in April, could go earlier but don't want to freeze...68d here today..nice day to sail.. mmmm
Thank you so much, Liv (but you're making me blush!). Although, I think the same could be said for many, if not most, of the members on here, and certainly, yourself included. I believe that perspective must have something to do with the nature of sailing and of being a sailor. We tend to be more in touch with and more mindful of our environment, whether we are on our boats or off. It promotes in us a different and deeper way of looking at (and seeing) things, and a deeper appreciation for all of nature. I think every sailor has a bit of the heart of a poet.
Yes, I do really like this vast virtual harbor I have found here at Seaknots. There are so many interesting sailors docked in here, and many talented artists, too!
A Canadian Sailcraft 22 would seem like floating palace compared to my little Com-pac 16, although I do love my little ship, as diminutive as she may be. There is enough cabin space for two to sit or lay down, plenty of storage, and a space for a portable head. I have spent many a pleasant night tucked away in a peaceful cove, either anchored out or tied to a tree, depending on the conditions at the time. The boat weighs only 1100 pounds empty, with 450 of that as ballast in her shoal draft keel. It only takes about twenty inches of water to float her. All in all, this makes her a very versatile and stable little craft, almost beechable, easy to trailer, launch and retrieve, and having her parked in my driveway makes maintenance a breeze. She'll do me fine until the foot-itis begins to set in.
How's your boat search progressing? By the way, I read stories from a Canadian couple who, with a CS27 (Destiny Calls), spent two years sailing all over the Caribbean. One of their final comments on their adventure was that if they had had a boat three feet longer, they probably never would have come back at all.
What beautiful country where you live! With such breathtaking views it's easy to see where you draw your inspiration from. Wonderful photos and great art!

Hi Liv,
you have been to Croatia, so you know that the italian side of the Adriatic is not the best sailing destination in the Med. In Italy Tyrrenian, Sardinia and Sicily are by far much better then the adriatic. You must go there if you plan to return to Europe.
I'll take a look at your posts and photos to learn about sailing destinations in Canada.

"I had to replace my sheeve on both sides and really struggled to get the bolts out. Once I had them out, each was bent thus the challenge. I ended up stripping one or two of the hex bolts and used an angle grinder to square off the head of the bolt…"
