Hi Carl,
I'm out of Urbanna also. No ostomy here, but have an Arizona bladder, and have to self catheterize every two hours. Can be a challenge single handing. Imagine that the ostomy is much more challenging though.
I'm on the Molly's Way side down by the boathouse. Where, generally is your boat?

Just about everything you eat could cause these for about a year or 2 post op. How long since the surgery? I found it was trial and error for a long time (3years post op now) and still have some issues. I have some control but still can flare without warning and with foods that I have previously eaten with impunity.
I take it all one day at a time and have a few really good friends that put up with my dietary idiocyncracies.
All the best

I am crewing on a 37' and she is lovely. The roller furling main makes things easier than pulling sails up and down. No electric winches, but they are available. Cannot go the electric route yet. Have a great time sailing. I have met several sailors with similar issues.

RN/PhD if you need info, I can get it for you. Do have IBD and had moderate amount of LI removed but no ostomy as yet. Many diet restictions, especially when sailing. We can do anything we set our minds to do and have a great time in the process.
