Here we are starting Hurricane season 2011.  It's generally fairly quiet at the beginning at the season so while everyone has their hurricane kit prepared, it isn't too pressing.  YET.  (operative word there)

Sailed out near Cocoa in the intercoastal this past Sunday.  Winds picked up closer to noon with some excellent sailing just under the jib.  YEAH.  Why is it that sandwiches always taste so much better on the water?  Yummy.

I have been practicing single handling the Owl.  I have taken her out of the marina, dropped an anchor, raised the jib and main, docked in a place other than my marina, and gotten her back into the marina (a bit of help was needed with the last thing, but I didn't FALL in the marina water!)  I haven't actually gone out alone, I just don't let anyone help if I can help it.  Oh, and I take experienced sailors with me!

Tentatively planning a sail down to Sebastian the 3 day weekend of Independence Day with my son, Ben, and his friend, JP.  Can't wait to get to Captain Hiram's.....there is a daquiri with my name on it down there.  Starting to tentatively plan the food and doing engine prep.  Everything about sailing trips rules!!!

Hope everyone is prepared for hurricanes.  I'll stay in touch.  Stay safe and dry.
