So my sailing club, Texas Mariner's Cruising Association ( http://tmca.nu) held their annual planning meeting yesterday. It was quite a different experience planning an entire year's worth of weekends versus the short 6 month season in the north. Being that it is the "off" season down south where the weather is much cooler, but not freezing, I can understand why people will go out every chance they get.
Normally, being a hard core sailor, I'm always down with that, but a short 6 month season is much different than having twice as many weekends to choose from. Today for example, is a little chilly here in Kemah. High in the low 50's with 20-30 mph winds as reported on weather.com. Hmm...with the wind chill in the high 30's, I think I'd rather be a little more selective. Maybe I'm just getting older, lol.
Anyway, 2009 should be action packed with sailing, and hopefully not with storms. I invite anyone in the greater Houston/Kemah/Galveston areas to check out the website, and join us at one of our regular meetings or just meet up with us on one of our outings. We are a very welcoming bunch.
