Sailor
Homeport:
Portland, OR
About Me:
I first sailed about 15 years ago but didn't purchase my own boat until two years ago with my husband. We are totally in love with sailing and our little 26 foot Clipper Marine, soon to be named The Siskin (a viking songbird).

We can't wait for the spring when the sailing season starts again. Someday we will either move to a place where we can sail year round or at least get a floating home where it is easier to sail on the fly. Right now we moor our boat in the driveway because our boat has a centerboard.

Sailing is now in my blood, and I have always felt my best when on the water. I can't wait to live on it!
Current location:
Portland, OR
Destinations visited:
So far we have sailed down to St. Helens Oregon, on Timothy Lake, Hagg Lake, and Waldo Lake (the cleanest lake in Oregon). Now that we have had two full summers to get better at sailing, we plan next year to give the Puget Sound a try, and also we hope to sail up to Beacon Rock.

For now, we have been enjoying our time on the Columbia River just learning how to man the ropes and get comfortable with a nice heal. :o)
Looking to:
Eventually we want to buy a big enough boat to be ocean worthy and sail down South. Once retired, we plan on living in Portland for the half the year and down in California for the other half. This of course depends on where we are with global warming. If in 25 years the Portland area is tropical, then we will spend winters here and summers up North. LOL! We'll sail to wherever the weather is best for good sailing!

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
