I learned to sail on the Sloop Woody Guthrie and the Sloop Clearwater in the Hudson River of NY. For those who don't know, the Clearwater is a 110' replica of a 16th C dutch design North River Sloop that sailed the Hudson til about the turn of the 20th C. The Woody Guthrie is a 32' version of the same design that sailed out of Beacon, NY every weekday evening Members of the Beacon Sloop Club sailed and maintained her. They took out guests to acquaint them w/ the river and give them a taste of sailing. Many of our guests became crew members.
Now I live near the AL Gulf Coast. I still love to sail. However, I can't afford a boat. I wondered if anyone might like to have a crew? Is there was anything like The Clearwater or The Beacon Sloop Club on the Gulf Coast? .Are there any land locked sailors that may be interested in forming such a club contact me @ pulldigm@yahoo.com.
