Profile Type:
Sailor
Homeport:
Mystic Island, NJ
About Me:
Meg an I have been sailing together for 26 years. Started real small, 8 foot foam snark! 14ft doodle, 18ft wood sloop we rescued from a chain saw, 21 ft venture, 23 foot seafarer, 30 Clipper. These were all boats that needed work. We fixed'um up sailed and eventually sold. Sort of worked our way up to larger boats.

Starrider a 2001 Gemini 105Mc is the first used boat we owned that we had to take out a boat loan to buy. It was worth it, we have been adding "stuff" to the boat to make her a live aboard (radar, solar panels, wind generator, inverter, electronics, etc). After 3 years of adding stuff we made a 500 mile plus trip last summer. From Atlantic City NJ we sailed offshore to Montauk Point (straight through), sailed to 3 mile Harbor where we met other Gemini owners for a rendezvous. We then sailed on to Block Island (loved the place). Then we went home via Long Island sound, East River and sailed offshore along the coast.

This was a good shake down cruise for us and the boat. Meg and I have dreamed for years of owning a boat that we could live aboard and travel south for the winter. Meg and I proved to ourselves we can sail overnight in the Ocean, sail in shifts, and still have a wonderful time. We are ready Now! It will be 6 more years before we can retire and join the ranks of the "snowbirds" and head south for the winter. For now we have to settle for weekend and vacation cruises, but even a bad day on the water is better then a good day at work!

We hope soon after retirement to spend some extended time cruising on Starrider and spending quality time together.
Current location:
Mystic Island New Jersey
Destinations visited:
Block Island, Long Island Sound, Connecticut, New York City. Most towns Along the NJ coast from Atlantic Highlands to Cape May.

We hope soon after retirement to spend some extended time cruising on Starrider and spending quality time together (kids all grown up and out on their own, and hope it stays that way, lol).

B43 Traveller

The starboard side of my Traveller is starting to lift up. I am guessing to remove the center 5mm Allen bolt that goes through the middle of the sheeves, although I cannot get it to budge, to access it. Does anyone have any experience with this??Thanks Dave B43 Shore's AdriftSee More
