Our longhaired Dachshund, Moose , does the same, jumps into the dinghy but he's is too short to jump back up onto the boat..LOL.. I can't get him out of the boat or the water. We really enjoy this little guy .
He also jumps on other people's boats, much to their surprise.. :-)

he is a boat dog we use a tandem ocean kayak as a dingy and he jumps in and out and up on to our boat. when he was a pup he would get on the back of my white water kayak and sit against my back while i was surfing a wave in the river and then jump off when by land and then do it again he just doesn't like to swim. his name is scout.

How great is he? I have a dachshund sailor dog who claims the same spot on our boat.
