Lola, My father played for the Cardinals from 1938 - 1954, and the Yankees from 1954-59. The Cardinals retired his #9 in 1996 and presented a bronze statue of his 1946 World Series Mad Dash in 1999 which stands today outside of the new Busch Stadium in St. Louis. He is still an inspiration to many young ball players for his hustle and love of the game.
