well , after 11 years the port side eyebrow window ( the large one in the salon with two opening ports) developed a serious leak. Seems the mastic seal has aged and opened. I am in process now of getting quotes to remove and replace. Hopefully we can remove it without cracking and damaging it. A new one approaches $1000 USD. Re-bedding is probably going to cost around a thousand also. Will let the group know results.

Sam, I am just in the process of replacing both of my eyebrow windows.  I have the new ones from Beneteau and am talking with dealer in Florida re Bebeteaus advice. It would be helpful to talk to you about your experience. I have never seen plexiglass with the rubber gasket before.

Hello all,

I realise coming into this year old conversation could be somewhat strange though sharing advice is always beneficial..

Our B43 had her port large saloon window repaired under warranty after it developed a gap and obvious leak. The boat was delivered in S.E Queensland ( East coast of Australia) and was moored for the first year of her life port to the North (sunny, hot side). In this temperate sub tropical climate zone the large areas of black window and black painted surrounds on hot summer days were hot enough to burn your hand and it became obvious that without covering the problem would promptly return.  We had our trimmer prepare some covers from a white 90% shadecloth fitted inside the window recess. They are held in place with press studs along the top and edges with small shock cord toggles pulling the forward and aft edges down.. The amount of light they admit means they do not come off with the added advantage is they act as insect screens when the rectangular porthole windows are opened.. After 9 years so far so good!.
