Homeport:
in my dreams for the moment...
About Me:
Tall ship schooner sailor for 10 years in Key West....sailing is my passion but for now sailing in my dreams usually at least 3 nights a week! I`m raising my son in a liberal Ohio village-home of Antioch College...I teach English to Spanish-speaking kids...love blue water, coves, nature, animals, kids, growing things, laughing, good wine and food, music, arts, culture, remote places, speaking Spanish, the wind... I`ve been in 40 foot seas and now am sometimes in those same seas teaching inner city children...long to get back into sailing...
Current location:
Yellow Springs, Ohio
Destinations visited:
Florida Keys, Florida coast, Bahamas-Cat Cay, Bimini, HighborneCay, Staniel Cay, Great Exuma-Georgetown, Great Inagua, Port Antonio, Jamaica, Fiji, New Caledonia, Sydney, Australia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand, Cuba, and Dry Tortugas...there are more but these are by boat...
Looking to:
Make new friends who share my love for sailing-I could vicariously sail through your experiences! You can take the girl away from the sea, but you can`t take the sea out of the girl...fair winds and full holds...Cathleen

If ya miss the 40 ft seas, I'll post some for ya later. We had a nice little no name storm a year ago October off of Mexico, 40-45ft and 80 knot breezes. Took a couple of good 45° rolls.
Unfortunately left a million homeless in the state of Tabasco, Mexico.
We sustained some damage onboard but after dealin with it for about twelve hours, we made it into the port of Dos Bocas with no steering, which was fun as the last 30 footer crawled up the stern and finished tearing everything loose. Interesting day.

Hi Cathleen,

Thanks for the add. I am new at this and will learn more as I spend time here. By the way, I think you have a misspelling near the end of your profile. I think you meant "out" instead of "put". :-)

Hi Cathleen,

I'm from Troy Ohio, sail a MacGregor 22 and a Catalina 25 on Acton Lake at Hueston Woods. I'm looking to find some blue water crewing experience this summer. In the meanwhile, I'm having fun locally. Would love to hear more about your experiences if you would care to join me for a sail when the weather is a bit warmer.

You have done the type of sailing that I would like to experience, but never will. I'm destined to sail the Chesapeake Bay. Not complaining, but I'd love to see those 40 foot seas.

Hi ScurveyWench,
I've been to Key West a few times myself.
Did you know Callee Frith Manning?
He ex: hubby Chris(?) was on one of those Cats in Key West.
Callee is back in Bermuda with her son.
Just curious...

Hi, Not many places to sail near Yellow Springs, no wonder you have to do it in your dreams. I sail my Bayfield 25 in Lake Erie when the water is not hard. I sometimes think I should move south to were you can sail all year long.
