As a budding writer and boat shopper, I will be in Annapolis to work on an article I am writing as well as to acquaint myself with this historical haven for sailors. I will be in town from April 5 - 9. If you have any good ideas, including a chance to sail let me know.
What are the details for the safety at sea water demonstration? What is the exact date? Too bad my need to focus on my writing is so critical, though the safety at sea program might be helpful. Let me know. Thanks,
Hello Marlene
Hope you enjoy Annap. Been there many times and live 2hrs North in NJ.
The Navy Acad also has a B/B but need to book in advance. Might be off season and open on April 5th. Otherwise contact me on my site and will meet you if able. Carolelowry@hotmail.com
Try the Annap Naval Acad. for a fun and historic B/B. I live 2 hrs north in NJ and could meet if you like carolelowry@hotmail.com. The Cherry Blossom festival is on in DC for a wonderful experience in the capital less than 1 hr away.
Have a great time. Carole
Try the Anap. Naval Acad. for a great/historic B/B. The Cherry Blossom Festival is on in DC less than 1 hr away and if all else fails, I live 2 hrs north in NJ. Will come down for a day and show you about. Carole
I am in Annapolis, but unfortunately, do not have a boat to offer you a sail!
I would suggest though that you check out www.spinshseet.com, the website for the local monthly sailing magazine - they have a crew/skipper search listing and I do know of people who have come in to the area for just a day or two and successfully emailed a skipper and was able to arrange a sail.
I haven't stayed at any of the Bed & Breakfasts to recommend any, but I have walked past several that are right near the Naval Academy grounds and they look terrific from the outside!
If you are interested in meeting up sometime while you are in town, just let me know! I hope we have sunny days for you when you are here!
Hi Stephanie,
I am hoping the place I book my room will have internet acess. Otherwise, if you want send me your phone #. I expect to spend my days roaming around annapolis and would welcome a 'new friend.' Perhaps on Wed.
Marlene... Think dachshund. Under 10 lbs. Doesn't shed (at least the short-haired variety). Tons o' fun. Can easily be scooped up in one hand to help with boarding the boat. When my current dogs are gone, and if I happen to lose complete control of my sanity, a wiener dog would sure work for me! P.S., love following the blog entries.
Hi - I'm taping this out on my iPhone. My only access now. Lola posted a link re the salt water that is good. I would love to join you for some part of the journey. Will be on outer banks camping early part of June. I'll write more when I get to real Internet access. Bless you Marlene your adventurous spirit will carry you thru! And you are an inspiration. Orvil said it all well! Suky
Marlene, When you accept the "Friends" invite (as I hope you will), I'll send my cell # via PM. See you at Sandy Hook. Meanwhile, if I can think of any female sailors who might want to help you crew northward, I'll steer 'em your way.
dear Marlene,
happy to know you are safely home !**!*!@* ... precious time... great journey.. I look forward to your memoir... you are a great inspiration..~**!*~*~*!*~!*~**~!*
hey Marlene,
wow... must be different being home and back to the routine...I'm really looking forward to reading about your journey..... it was also special for me to meet you and your sister...you are a big inspiration !~! ~
thanks i will always treasure our friendship no matter how many miles between us you are always thought of my dear friend. it is you that i thank cause you gave me the confidence to conquer the world
Hey Marlene! Yep...I'll be there for the 12th. We're leaving for Peru on September 18th. Back on October 4th and off for Ecuador 3 weeks later. Fun! Sure did miss the practice on Fastlane!
Based on the one pic you do not look like you are a AARP member!
Maybe we need to start a group of 'Life is the Best over 60!'
You refer to your 'sailing at sixty' writtings, where can they be found?
My theme is 'Dwell on the beauty of The Journey, not the destination'
PS, I have an uncle and aunt in Melbourne, but then everyone has a relative in Floridal
hey Sailor... you're the inspiration.... and thanks...do you read your mail ? I sent you message about looking for someone in Melborne Beach.... want to stop and visit with you on our way south ***~!
Thanks for your compliment, Marlene, but it wasn't a big deal. The toughest part is cutting the dock lines. Once you are out there, the ocean takes you away!
I doubt I will make the Miami Boat Show; it is tempting but I'm busy practicing for some upcoming races and am trying to conserve my dollars for the purchase of my next big boat. Of course, if I thought I could land a job as a writer, or boat captain, or crew on a cool voyage I would be definitely go. Maybe if the weather is bad I'll come down for the day. I went a few years ago. I'll let you know if I am going to make it. :-) It would be fun to have someone to hang out with! :-)
Hello new friend. I have enjoyed your blogs and posts; you're a very good writer. To answer your question, I'm an occupational therapist from upstate New York; retiring soon to float around in my Bayfield, play guitar, and maybe do some writing.
I was inspired by your writing as well. Maybe we can collaborate. Currently, I am working on a slide show of my sailing at sixty adventures for a presentation at our local club. . The trick is putting it to some songs I like. Keep in touch.
Lola I think the pix is here; at least a bunch of jibberish appeared after I clicked the camera, then browsed til I found the pix I wanted to enter. It's a sunrise coming into Ft. Pierce heading north on the ICW.
all i see is a red x in your message box below...also I don't see a sunrise picture on your photo page.
Put it on your photo page and then let me know on my page.
I had to put the picture onto a word document. Maybe that is the problem. It is weird how my computer has some pictures stored in a program that I can't seem to figure out.
Marlene, Marlene.... I would love to do some sailing with you. did you see my blog about last sail from Bahamas to Ft Lauderdale ? What are you thinking about boatwise for the next journey ? love ya Suky
