I am a long time sailor with extensive racing experience. I've also provided advanced instruction and collegiate coaching.Sailing has been a major part of my life.
No longer living aboard my Stevens 47, Comfortably Numb, in the NYC area. Now land based in Wellington and Ciudad Colon. CN is in Ft. Lauderdale but headed to Newport this summer. It been an entire waste of a trip south bringing the boat to FL for the winter.
I am a educated, professional person who has worked mostly in technical areas.
Comfortably Numb is available for charter.
Current location:
Ciudad Colon
Destinations visited:
4 of the continents...so far. Most of my international experience has been racing J-24's (5 World Championships)
Cruised in New England and the Mediterranean extensively, also FL, BVI, Bermuda, passages between Tortola and Newport.
Looking to:
enjoy life, meet new people and continue sailing
current plan is to be based in LI Sound this summer, leave for the Chesapeake late summer, down to FL for the winter and then down to Boca del Toro and San Blas Islands in Panama in the future
good morning--i hope your day has been going well--- i used to live in long island noooojoawrk-----and l earned to sail in hudson river on antique sloop with gaff rigging......hope fully you are not freezing yet---do you still come out to cali ????
is still warmish here in dago.....
i sooo love these boats---this one is just a bit beyond my abilities, i really hate to say---i like to save them --not watch them go downhill, as this one is doing---if were mine--would be fixed and sailing by now----i would like to meet this person if possible and maybe we can sail a bit------
I'm doind the Liberty Landing course! The books looks so thorough, so I'm very confident that the practical side will be as good! Where are you located?
I assume you're on the east coast of Costa Rica? Even so, it's a long way to travel hey? New York's sea water freezes a bit if I remember correctly from my winter visit - hope you have some heating ;-)
Hi Art -- check out The Sailing Club group. We're based in Northern NJ. Only three of us have signed up here so far, but the club has just over 100 members. Most don't own boats, we charter all over the place.
Art...Len Butler here...Im on the other side of the canal
at Liberty Harbor..have a J24 you may want to race if you are still here next Spring...May also be interested in chartering your boat on occasion...I own a charter biz here in the area...see sailnyc.com. give me a call when convenient...Len phone number on website..
Annapolis was plagued with light air this fall. Very strange.
Some days it did blow hard, too hard. Like the day 2/3 of the 8 boat Star fleet lost their rigs.
The Melges 24 North Americans had good breeze. with one day no sail due to too much wind.
Honkin' today SE@25
Really , wooooo!!!!!, so you were at puerto azul regatta last year did you enjoy it ??? , Arnoldo is a good friend of mine , and Espathal needs a lot of TLC, but its a very nice boat .
Art...Didn't make Capt. Als friday...sorriy...I let Johan know but

3 or 4PM to see whats happening...then we will know who will
be aboard for cocktails...Len
Found your site and answered my own question re-live aboard. Great life, if I could only stop working. Down to 3 days/ week but cannot seem to break the last tie called funding my lifestyle.
My dream is to do the Pacific via the Panama. Possibly back home to Australia to visit family than off again.
Have a great summer
Carole
Art, you are right! Just came back from spending a day in Bonifacio and Lavezzi. What an experience! I can imagine this harbor entrance looking exactly as it is thousands of years ago!
