    Doug,

I have added a group called "Sailing in Thailand" to find more yachties with common interest.

Having crewed in the Phuket Raceweek in the past, I have made a few friends in Thailand. They are very active.

Especially my friend with the nick name Ferret. I have invited him to join this discussion group too.

Doug, I bought my Freedom 42 in San Diego in 1993. I used a broker named Mason Starring and I belive he worked for Soutwestern Yachts. Never met the previous owner, but I believe he was in the software industry.

Charted the boat in San Diego for about a year and a half before moving abourd full time in late 1994. After cruisng for several years, sold her in 1998 to a pilot who flew for Soutwest Airlines.

I had a great time outfitting her. Added holding plate refridgeration, a water maker and may other upgrades.

    Doug:
As you know we are shopping for a new Freedom. The Mull 36/38 and Pedrick 35 are the ones we are looking at now. They are both a bit out of the budget range once we factor in shipping and bringing everthing up to our desired level. Since you have owned both a Mull 36/38 and now a Mull 30/32, maybe you can give me some insight. Will the 30.32 work for us based on the following needs?
Keep at our slip on Shelter Island and use on the weedends and 3 to 4 day stays on a regular basis.
Sail/motor to Catalina and stay for a week or two.
While there is just two of us, how is the cockpit and salon when entertaining a total of 6 people?

    Here are my concerns.
The galley is too small and there is little storage.
The forward cabin seems tight. If we got a 30, we would most likely use the aft cabin.

So, what sacrafices did you have to make moving down from a 36 to a 30?

    Thanks,

    James
