I own a 28' Westsail. I am rather new to sailing and have only been out off Cape Canaveral. I can assure you it is a good solid built boat and have confidence in it. I'm still working on it (see the pics on my page). I'm getting ready to rerig it and willl be going up one size on the standing rigging. I also recently purchased a Norvane selfsteering wind vane that I will install when I pull the boat for its next bottom job and rerig. I can do ok single handed now that I added the furler. It is not a fast boat but it feels solid under your feet and as far as I can tell is very well built. 28' is real cozzy so you may want to look at the 32's. I hope this helps you out a little bit. If you have any more questions don't hesitate. I have a view sources. May the winds be with you!!
